Good News Bad News offers a finite mix of positive and difficult news. Each day you get a pack of news cards — some good news, some bad news. Swipe through them, save articles, and track your reading balance. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.
Data We Collect
All data is stored locally on your device:
- Reading preferences and saved articles
- Balance stats (good vs bad news ratio)
- Daily pack history
We do NOT collect personal identification, location data, usage analytics, or any data transmitted off your device beyond news content requests.
Local-First Privacy
Good News Bad News is built local-first. Your reading preferences, saved articles, and balance stats never leave your device. There are no accounts, no cloud storage, no tracking.
News Content & Network Requests
The app fetches news content from our API to build your daily packs. The app does not attach your private reading balance or saved library to pack requests. Cloudflare hosts the API and can process technical request information, including IP addresses, under its service policies. Public RSS material may be summarised using Cloudflare Workers AI. Opening an original source contacts that publisher, which has its own privacy policy.
Third-Party Services
We do not use advertising networks, analytics services, or data brokers. There are no ads and no trackers in the app.
Data Retention
- All data stored on device until you delete the app
- Uninstalling removes local app records; exported copies and device backups may remain
- No app account or cloud sync of your saved library; operating-system backups are managed separately
Your Rights
- Access: All your data is visible in the app
- Deletion: Uninstall the app to remove all data
- Portability: Your data stays on your device
Children's Privacy
This app is intended for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
